Jewish Social Justice: What Type of Courage Do We Need Today?

October 23, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Social justice is imbued in Jewish thought. Indeed, We learn that no less than thirty-six times throughout the Torah, we are commanded to love and protect the stranger, the refugee, and the immigrant. This panel asks the big question: Has our community lived up to this biblical mandate in the pursuit of justice for all? During the course of the night, the panelists will explore the dimensions of Jewish social justice from both a contemporary and traditional perspective. And, in doing so, the panel will uncover the depths of the Jewish social justice and the power it has in our community.

Panelists: Rabbi Mari Chernow of Temple Chai, Carlos Galindo-Elvira of ADL Arizona, and Sarah Kader of William E. Morris Institute for Justice. Facilitated by Rabbi Dr. Shmuly Yanklowitz of Valley Beit Midrash.
