The Art of Charity: What Does it Mean to Really Give?
March 27 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm$18
Charity is an essential part of the Jewish approach to a fulfilled life. We are often asked to give some of our income to charitable causes, community support programs, and agendas that promote and benefit a thriving Jewish life in American and abroad. But while Jewish teachings often discuss the mechanics of tzedekah, this panel strives to understand the need to be charitable from the soul’s perspective. What inspires people to donate to the community? What sustains interest in seeing community institutions thrive? What is the emotional purpose of giving back? In this panel, we will explore these questions (and more!) while learning about the motives that propel people to give so that others may thrive.
Panelists Randi Jablin, past chair of Women’s Philanthropy, Rabbi Jeremy Schneider of Temple Kol Ami, and Evan Wolfson of Collective Change. Facilitated by Rich Kasper of the Jewish Community Foundation.
