Interfaith Vigils for Pittsburgh Tragedy

By October 28, 2018October 30th, 2018Federation Notes

The Jewish Federation of Greater Phoenix stands with our brothers and sisters in the Jewish community of Pittsburgh during this most horrific tragedy – the murder of 11 innocent people and injuries to many more, including several police officers – at Shabbat services this past Saturday at Tree of Life Synagogue.

This is believed to be the deadliest attack on the Jewish community in U.S. history.

We will never sit quietly when anti-Semitism and hate rears its ugly head and culminates in the type of evil that took place on Saturday in Pittsburgh.

Our community is responding with several prayer services, vigils and rallies. We encourage you to attend those that speak to you. Do stand and be counted.

The following interfaith vigils are co-sponsored by our Federation:

Tuesday, October 30 at 6:30pm
Ina Levine Jewish Community Campus
12701 N Scottsdale Rd, Scottsdale 85254
Sponsored by the Jewish Community Relations Council in cooperation with the Jewish Community Foundation, Arizona Faith Network, Jewish Federation and Valley of the Sun Jewish Community Center.

Tuesday, October 30 at 7pm
Cutler-Plotkin Jewish Heritage Center
122 East Culver Street, Phoenix 85004
Organized by former State Senator and Tempe Councilmember David Schapira and co-hosted by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) of Arizona, the Jewish Federation of Greater Phoenix, the Arizona Jewish Historical Society, Arizona Jews for Justice and Valley Interfaith Project.

There will also be two additional community vigils:

Tuesday, October 30 at 5pm
Temple Emanuel of Tempe
5801 S Rural Road, Tempe 85283

Thursday, November 1 at 5:30pm
Temple Beth Shalom
12202 N 101st Ave, Sun City 85351

We at the Federation are here for all of us, particularly at moments like this. Please call or email us if we can be of assistance to you.

Today we are all Pittsburghers!

Never again please G-d.
