Marty’s Shabbat Message – December 7, 2017

Shalom Chaverim (Dear Friends),

Is it possible that Hanukkah is just days away? That’s what the calendar seems to say. With that in mind, I invite you to Federation’s Business & Professionals Hanukkah celebration, Dreidels & Drinks. The event is on Wednesday, Dec. 13 at 5:30p.m. at Goodman’s Interior Structures, our event sponsor. It’s the perfect opportunity for Jewish professionals to mingle, eat latkes and support the Jewish Federation and business community. For more information and to register, visit

2016 Dreidels & Drinks

This week’s Torah portion is Vayeishev (Dwelt) in the book of Genesis. In it, we are introduced to Joseph, he of the technicolor dreamcoat. Joseph is hated by his 11 brothers who are envious of him. Despite being beaten, sold as a slave and imprisoned in Egypt, Joseph never loses faith and he continues to receive G-d’s blessings.

Let us draw inspiration from those who came before us… from Joseph, from David, from Isaac. May they give us strength to carry on in difficult times. May we always see the bright side. May we never lose hope or faith.

Shabbat Shalom.
