Marty’s Shabbat Message – March 14, 2019

Shalom Chaverim (Dear Friends),

It boggles my mind that we are just two weeks away from concluding the first quarter of 2019, and therefore a quarter of the way through our 2019 annual campaign. We’ve started off strong with three well-received events: our Lions of Judah luncheon for women who contribute $5,000+ in their name, our Major Gifts dinner for those making a household gift of $12,000+ and last week’s MEGA 2019 with special guest Henry Winkler. Through these three campaign events, we have raised $1,065,671 towards our $3.6 million 2019 campaign goal!

Our raised-to-date total increase from 2018 from event participants is $108,552 — that’s a 10.2 percent increase! Thank you!

This week’s Torah portion is Vayikra (And He Called) in Leviticus. In this chapter, G-d shares the laws of korbanot (animal sacrifices) with Moses so that the Israelites may receive forgiveness for various transgressions.

In keeping with the name of this week’s parsha, I "call" upon all the wonderful Jewish women in our community to attend IGNITION! 2019 on Thursday, April 4, 11am-1pm. The luncheon features Roz Rothstein, co-founder and CEO of StandWithUs and twice-named by The Jerusalem Post as one of the 50 Most Influential Jews in the World.

IGNITION! is our Federation’s last major event of the 2019 spring annual campaign season. Please help us close it with the same level of success as the first three events and register today at jewishphoenix.org/ignition2019.

Thanks to everyone who has donated to our Federation campaign so far. The 2019 campaign sits at $1,767,000 overall. You support strengthens Jewish Life and helps Jews in need here in the Valley, in Israel and in 70 other countries around the world.

Wishing you all a Shabbat Shalom.

Sincerely,

Marty Haberer
President & Chief Executive Officer
