Shalom Chaverim (Dear Friends),
This past week, Women’s Philanthropy held its annual IGNITION! Luncheon attended by more than 350 women. During the event, we presented awards to Beneé Hilton Spiegel, Alison Feinberg, Bari Kanefsky and Julee Landau Shahon. How lucky we are to have these amazing women as role models for their work with Federation and with our community. Leah Bold Mondlick was simply spellbinding as she so eloquently made the case for why Federation continues to be a vital support system for our entire Jewish community.
The women (and few gentlemen) in the room pledged more than $100,000 for Federation’s 2018 annual campaign, which now sits at $1.7 million and is running at a 24 percent card-for-card increase. In addition, we welcomed two new Lions of Judah (women who make gifts of $5,000) into our Lion’s Den.
This week’s Torah portion is Tzav (Command) in Leviticus. Moses instructs Aaron and his sons as first priests to the temple, how the flame must be kept burning. Today, the women of IGNITION! are our priestesses. They lead by example, giving of their time, talent and treasure. They are keeping our eternal flame of 4,000 years of Jewish history burning so that our children and grandchildren can continue to live lives filled with compassion and caring for those in need.
