Shalom Chaverim (Dear Friends),
I hope that you and your family had a meaningful High Holy Days season. I had so much fun this past week Sukkah-hopping and spending wonderful times with the friends I have made here in the Valley the last two and a half years. And, now everything starts all over again. Having G-d-willing been sealed in the Book of Life, we strive to be even better in 5778.
As we begin anew, the Jewish Federation of Greater Phoenix is pleased to announce the launching of its Yesod Leadership Program, an initiative designed by the Jewish Federations of North America and the Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning. Yesod will build a pipeline of excellent and sustainable volunteer leadership for our community. Its course content merges Judaic study, business skills, leadership theory, and experiential application. We’re planning to launch the program in early 2018 with 20 community participants and are asking each Valley organization and synagogue to nominate 2 or 3 prospects for the program. Stay tuned for details.
So let us end with the beginning. As we’ve done every year that came before, we begin the Torah anew. The first words in the Book of Genesis are in Parshat Bereishit, In the beginning. The strength of our Jewish community begins with investment in our leadership. Through collaboration, cooperation and love of Jewish community, I believe that this will be a year when our Jewish community continues to evolve into one of the preeminent Jewish communities in North America. I feel blessed to be a part of it all.
